Welcome to join the event organizers of the Night of Science

The Night of Science is a block party for science and research and is celebrated annually in Helsinki. The program is made by many different scientific and cultural organizations and actors. Join the organizers of the Night of Science 2022 by signing up for the mailing list.

The next Night of Science takes place on Thursday the 20th of January 2022. The event organizers are free to plan any kind of events they want. In previous years, the Night of Science has included lectures, workshops, theater performances, guided tours, city games and exhibitions. We are looking for both urban and online events for the Night of Science 2022. Combinations of these two are also possible.

To be part of the Night of Science, the event must meet three conditions. The event must be free of charge, the program must be based on science and the program information must be submitted by the deadline to the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies (TSV) which is coordinating the event. The deadline of the program information will be set in the beginning of November.

The event organizers are responsible for all matters related to their own events in the Night of Science (program, timetable, place, cost, etc.). TSV is responsible for compiling and publishing the program, as well as for communication and marketing of the Night of Science.

TSV encourages event organizers to cooperate with each other. The event organizers’ meeting in September will be a place to discuss ideas and tentative plans for upcoming Night of Science. The invitation to the event will be sent to the event organizers' mailing list at the end of August.

Part of the budget of the Night of Science will go directly to organizing events. The actors and organizations that do not have their own funds to organize an event at the Night of Science can apply for a grant to organize one. The grants are between 500 and 1000 euros and they can be applied for until the 7th of November 2021. Send a free-form application accompanied by the program and budget of the event you are planning to the email address below.
