Euroalueen velkaongelma on ratkaisematta, ja Euroopan keskuspankin taseessa on liki 5000 mrd euromaiden velkaa. Venäjän sotilaallinen uhka jatkuu Ukrainan sodan jälkeen ja EU:n alisuoriutuminen huolestuttaa. Hallitsematon maahanmuutto on edelleen mahdollista Schengen-rajan ylitse. Onko Euroopan yllä vain synkkiä pilviä? Miten Euroopan unionin poliittista järjestelmää tulisi uudistaa näiden tilanteiden valossa? Luennon pitää emeritusprofessori Vesa Kanniainen.
klo 18.00: HIV and Affect in the Finnish Criminal Courtroom
From the early 1990s, there have been about 20 cases in which HIV has been criminalized under the Finnish Criminal Code. Numerous scholars have pointed out that HIV criminalization reveals mechanisms of (non-)belonging along lines of race, gender, sexuality, and class globally. In Finland, critical academic engagement on the phenomenon is meagre. By deconstructing the legal and extra-legal arguments made for or against HIV criminalization, boundaries and limitations of assumed Finnish legal culture are drawn and the place of emotion in law and the courtroom are located. The lecture is held by doctoral researcher Juulia Kela.

What role do pseudohistory and collective memory play in Kremlin-fueled disinformation efforts? Hear examples from Hungary and Slovakia, where these narratives are prominent, and Finland, where they are (largely) not. The lecture is held by doctoral researchers Ilana Hartikainen and Zea Szebeni.
klo 19.00: Populismi, Twitter ja eurooppalainen julkisuus vuoden 2019 europarlamenttivaaleissa
Apulaisprofessori Juha Herkmanin luennolla kerrotaan tuoreesta kirjasta, joka perustuu kahteen Suomen Akatemian rahoittamaan tutkimushankkeeseen. Kirjan tutkimuksissa avataan Twitterin ja populistisen viestinnän roolia vuoden 2019 europarlamenttivaaleissa seitsemässä maassa: Suomessa, Hollannissa, Saksassa, Italiassa, Espanjassa, Irlannissa ja Iso-Britanniassa.
klo 19.30: Blokkiutuvatko mediayleisöt? Suomalaisten luottamus mediaan
Mediayleisöjen eriytyminen on viime vuosina herättänyt keskustelua. Yliopistonlehtori Janne Matikaisen ja yliopistotutkija Minna Horowitzin luennolla esitellään tuoreita aineistoja hyödyntäen suomalaisten luottamusta mediaa kohtaan ja luottamuksen eriytymistä. Lisäksi verrataan Suomen tilannetta muihin pohjoismaihin ja pohditaan, millaisiin yhteiskunnallisiin tekijöihin luottamus liittyy.
