Screening – Sammy Baloji: Aequare. The Future That Never Was (2023)
Artist Sammy Baloji's film about the Yangambi Agricultural Centre in Congo combines footage from colonial propaganda and film clips from the artist's field research. The film presents visually contemplative landscape images, interspersed with views of obsolete buildings occupied by Congolese agents and workers. The duration of the film is 20 minutes, and there will be two screenings. Before and after the screenings we will be giving out IHME Helsinki Commission 2021 Katie Paterson’s To Burn, Forest, Fire incense packages and invite everyone to organize their own incense ceremony on the International Day of Forests 21 March 2025.
